On seeing my Frizzle looks for the first time.

So, it’s the beginning of the new school year and I’ve definitely been slacking on keeping up ALL my blogs. But some of my students’ reactions today were just too good to slack on, so here you go. I promised myself I’d ease them in…two days of class is enough for that, right?

“It’s too early for that shade of pink.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s also too early for that dress. And hat. And pigtails.”
“What is it not too early for?”
“Normal teachers.”

“Ay! Ranchera, Miss!”
“No, not really, but it’s hat day, so I had to match.”
“Actually, I’m pretty sure your matching was a choice.

<One of my students was talking to his brother (a former student) in the hallway and saw me open the door to the classroom.>
“Oh wow.”
“What?”
<Turns and sees me.>
“Oh, that’s just Miss V. Wait until she feels really comfortable with y’all.”

“I LOVE YOUR BOOTS AND YOUR DRESS AND YOUR HAT AND YOUR HAIR!”
“So, basically, you just love her.”
“YES.”

“You’re wearing the girly, crazy-teacher version of my outfit today.”
“No, you’re wearing the manly, normal-student version of MY outfit today.”
“Well, maybe. You’re kind of my role model in an inconvenient way, so that makes sense.”
<And then my heart exploded.>
